Maltese Dog Rescue News
Why would anyone consider a rescue dog you might ask. There are many reasons both pro and con to consider. Looking at all of these possibilities what can it all mean?
Rescue dogs come from a variety of circumstances. Some we know and others we can only guess. Rescue dogs come in all ages and pedigrees. Some healthy and others with obvious health problems and others not so obvious. Reputable rescues will tell potential adopters what they know in regards to any health problems a dog might have.
When one thinks of a rescue verses a puppy we have to consider from the start what we will or will not know. When one purchases a puppy we do not know what that puppy will develop into. Will that pup have behavior problems in the future we have no way of knowing. In the case of a rescue dog, we have a dog who has grown to a age and we can have a pretty good idea of that dogs character. We will not have to be concerned with the issues of a puppy, which many people contrary to popular belief do not want to go through. Puppies also have to go through a series of shots and spay/neuter. Most rescues will have completed both of these vet expenses before the dog even leaves the rescue. Purchase price of a puppy is far more than a rescue dog as well. So purchase price is certainly something to think about as well.
I have been told on countless occasions from many families who have adopted dogs that these dogs seem to be more devoted than any other dog that they seem to know they where saved. That knowing that they have given these dogs a chance for a loving home for the rest of its days is very powerful. Saving a life is something that would make anyone feel good. In this day we all need a little of that.
